Good morning ladies and gentlemen

In this occasion today I would love to discuss about the importance of character building. Literally, character is the particular combination of qualities in a person or place that makes them different from others. So that, character building is an attempt to change the mindset of people in order to make a better environment where people respect, socialize, and take their responsibility in a harmony. Why do I choose this topic to be discussed? It is clearly because our nation in a degradation of morality. We could see that the clearest example is there are so many corruptors live and travel wherever they want to go easily without worrying about the sentence they may get.

We may wonder why character building has been applied in 2013 curriculum and we may ask how important it is to be taught and implemented to our children. If people ask, is it necessary? My answer is yes. In my opinion, character building will lead our next generation into a better morality even they will involve in a certain bad circumstance as the rest of bad past, which is left by worth generation. Human can be both bad and good depend on the situation they face and what does existed in their mindset. For the example, as a social creature, this cannot live alone and interact each other in order to complete their needs people sometimes will do anything to get what they want. Some of them could turn drastically as a beast and the rest of them will stay calm even do not get what they want.

Dear my brothers and sisters

Maybe we have found there was a case where a young man who formerly well known as the chairman of activist organization that was very idealistic struggling Indonesian people rights became a corruptor when he was in the representative committee. It was very shocked as his good record as an activist who actively spent his life as a good people and no one could imagine how that person did that. Some people may think that if it is very normal to change when pressure, chance, wants, etc in the new circumstance are existed but once again. However, no matter how bad it is if we can control ourselves and realize whether the things we want to do is good or not we will not involve in and become bad people too.

Finally, we have to fix our education firstly by including character building because a habit or mindset cannot be created instantly. Nowadays, character building is very urgent and needed so much considering the change in our society recently where it is normal and reasonable to do a bad thing. We may cannot completely change our environment now where there are so many bad people existed in it but we can still prepare the better generation for our future. No matter how big and reasonable chance to do bad thing is, it cannot be happened if we can control ourselves.
